Abstract
This article discusses some of the most significant aspects of the project Exploring Physicality and Imagination in the Training of Actors, sharing details such as the process of selecting topics, working premises, and main sources for the project, which arose from the author's personal, artistic, and academic research. It addresses reflections on the study of 20th-century acting pedagogy and its most important influences on a particular theatrical practice and on the professional development of a fine arts graduate; the search to establish a theoretical-practical dialogue throughout the project; the investigation into the elements of physicality and imagination in actor training and contributions to this field from other disciplines, such as through recent studies that build bridges between acting and neuroscience. The account of this research experience highlights a cultural exchange that enriched this inquiry and contrasts the author's acting training, professional practice, research experience, and constant reflection in a quest to broaden her horizons regarding actor training.
