Abstract
In this essay, the author points out that theatrical performance—regardless of the nature of the groups involved—cannot overlook its artistic foundation. He focuses primarily on the director’s work: guiding the actors, establishing the perspective of the play, and, above all, ensuring an interpretive vision that underpins every constituent element of the work as a whole. Furthermore, he outlines what he considers to be the actor’s role and their relationship with the director when approaching a production—namely, the process of bringing a character to life through rigorous research and careful construction.
