Abstract
Synopsis:
One person knew from an early age that they were a fish, felt like a fish, and understood that their destiny was to live in the ocean of the world. However, the world does not seem to be made for fish, so they are forced to live in family, social, and political fish tanks.
The play:
Beyond the Binary employs metaphor, theater, and dance to address the issues of sexual diversity and gender identity, focusing on a human being's quest for acceptance in a society that rejects what it considers different. It proposes a struggle between what the law and the state propose and what society considers correct, that is, an ethical and moral issue of human identity, which calls into question the weight of tradition over respect for the individual. A reflection on freedom and respect, a play that makes us rethink an issue in which we are all immersed: being able to be who we are.
