Abstract
In this interview, Orlando Cajamarca—playwright and director of the Teatro Esquina Latina in Cali—discusses various aspects of playwriting, directing, staging, and theater and cultural criticism, among other topics. The conversation centers on the George Woodyard Award, conferred by the University of Connecticut for his latest work, *El solar de los mangos*. This play reveals a profound human dimension through the stories of three women—a mother and her daughters—who speak from the very brink of death, driven there by a fate shared with countless other women who, like them, have succumbed to the whims of a world that stifles the spirit in a sea of illusory promises.
